Who we are

Rosary Lock is a Catholic Rosary habit app for iOS. It is developed and operated as an independent app. When we say "Rosary Lock," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy, we mean the Rosary Lock app and its developer.

What we collect

We collect as little as possible. Here is everything Rosary Lock collects, and why:

Waitlist email address

• Collected when you submit your email on our website.
• Used only to notify you when Rosary Lock launches.
• Stored with our email service provider (Formspree).
• You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Prayer progress data (stored on your device)

• Which beads you have prayed.
• Your current mystery and bead position.
• Streak and journey statistics.
• Your preferred settings (haptics, line reveal pace).

Purchase information (premium subscribers)

• Subscription status — whether you are a free or premium user.
• This is handled entirely by Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details, credit card, or billing address.

Basic analytics (anonymous)

• We may use anonymous, aggregated analytics to understand how Rosary Lock is used — for example, which screens users spend the most time on.
• This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
• We do not use advertising trackers or third-party data brokers.

How we use it

We use the information we collect for one purpose: to make Rosary Lock work well for you.

• Your email — to contact you at launch, and only then unless you opt in to further communications.
• Your prayer data — to remember your bead position, show your journey, and build your Rosary habit across sessions.
• Your subscription status — to unlock premium features if you have subscribed.
• Anonymous analytics — to identify bugs, improve performance, and understand which features matter most.

We will never use your data to serve you advertisements.

What we don't do

Rosary Lock is a prayer app. Treating your data with respect is part of what that means.

Screen Time & app permissions

Rosary Lock uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls framework) to intercept shielded apps and bring you to your prayer screen before they open. Here is what that means for your privacy:

• Rosary Lock requests permission to use Screen Time controls on your device.
• This permission is granted by you, on your device, through iOS Settings.
• Rosary Lock uses this permission only to block and unblock the specific apps you choose to shield.
• Rosary Lock does not read your screen time usage data, browsing history, or any other activity data.
• You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time.

Notifications

• Rosary Lock requests notification permission to deliver your prayer prompt when a shielded app is intercepted.
• Rosary Lock sends only prayer-related notifications. No marketing, no promotions.
• You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings → Rosary Lock.

Data storage & security

Your prayer data is stored locally on your iOS device using AsyncStorage. It does not leave your device. It is not backed up to our servers.

Your waitlist email is stored with Formspree, a third-party form service that operates under its own privacy policy. We use Formspree solely to collect waitlist submissions before our backend is in place.

Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat, a widely-used in-app purchase management platform. RevenueCat operates under its own privacy policy. We receive only your subscription status — not your payment details.

We take reasonable precautions to protect the data we do hold. However, no system is perfectly secure. If you have concerns, please contact us.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — know what data we hold about you.
• Delete — ask us to delete your waitlist email at any time.
• Correct — ask us to correct any inaccurate information.
• Opt out — unsubscribe from any email communications.
• Portability — request a copy of your data in a readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at rosarylock@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Since most of your data lives on your own device, you can also delete it at any time by deleting the Rosary Lock app from your iPhone.

Children

Rosary Lock is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Users aged 13–17 should have parental consent before using Rosary Lock or providing their email address.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Rosary Lock grows and as we add new features. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

If you are on our waitlist, we may email you about significant privacy changes. We will always give you the option to opt out of Rosary Lock entirely.
